Malware Removal

1. Install and Run "CleanUp" to remove all temporary files
2. Run "Trend Micro" On Line Scan
3. Run "Panda" Online Scan"
4. Install and Run "AVG Anti-Spyware".
   Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
   On the main screen select the 'Update' icon.
   Next select the 'Start Update' button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
   Once the update has completed select the 'Scanner' icon at the top of the screen, then select the 'Settings' tab.
   Once in the Settings screen, click on 'Recommended actions' and then select 'Quarantine'.
   
   Under Reports:
   Select 'Automatically generate report after every scan'.
   Un-Select 'Only if threats were found'.
   
   
5. Install and run "AVG Anti-Virus". Only necessary if you don't already have anti-virus installed.
6. Install and run "ZoneAlarm" Firewall. Only necessary if you don't already have a firewall installed. Make sure you download the free version unless you want their Internet Security suite (I recommend this but it is not necessary). The link should take you there. If it fails then go to the main site ZoneAlarm.com and search for the free version.
7. Install and run "CWShredder". This is a small program that removes certain trojans.
8. Install and run "Lavasoft AdAware".
9. Install and run "Spybot Search and Destroy".
   Immunize - Spybot S&D has a feature that can help block Internet Explorer immunities (these include installation of known spyware, bad ActiveX controls, etc.). Just go into Spybot->Immunize (on the left panel) and click on the Immunize button. Do this everytime you update Spybot since it may also have updates for the Immunize feature. You should see it listed in the updates though.
   TeaTimer - This feature will provide real-time protection for any registry changes. It will ask you for permission before allowing the registry change. Most of the time these are legitimate, but if you spot something suspicious, make sure you Deny it. An example would be a malicious site trying to change your homepage. If you are sure that something is good/bad, then you may also wish to check the box to remember the settings for next time. To enable this real-time protection feature in Spybot, go into Spybot->Tools (on the lower left side panel)-> Resident and make sure that Resident TeaTimer is checked.
