How to fix your laptop's camera. Works for other integrated components as well.

The following procedure can be used to attempt a repair of any integrated component in your laptop.

1. Install the latest drivers.
2. Remove the camera and get Windows to re-install it.

Install Latest Drivers

• Go to the manufacturer's website (www.acer.co.uk)
• Go to their support page
• Find their Drivers download page
• Enter your model (e.g. Acer Extensa 7620G).
• Select your operating system (XP, Vista, Windows7)
• Find the driver you need and download it. E.g. Acer Webcam Driver.
• When the file has downloaded - run it

Remove the camera and get Windows to re-install it.

• Click on the Start Button
• Select Control Panel
• Double Click System (If you are in category view then click System and maintenance first)
• Select Device Manager
• Click on Continue if the User account control pops up
• Next to the words "Imaging devices", look for an exclamation on a yellow triangle. That would mean there is definitely a problem with the driver.
• Click the Plus Sign next to Imaging devices
• Right-Click on the camera
• Click on Update driver
• Click on Search Automatically. Allow the computer to search online if you are connected to the internet.

If this doesn't work then roll back the driver:

• Right Click on the Camera (in Device Manager)
• Select Properties
• Click on the Driver tab.
• Click on Roll Back Driver.
• Click on Yes
