SearchQU - What it is and how to remove it

I received this email from a client:

For a couple of days my search engine has defaulted to searchqu
I dont know where this came from but I dont want it but I cannot find how to get rid of it.

She had found it in her Internet Add-ons under "Search Providers" along with Bing and Google. However, unlike Bing and Google, the 'remove' option was not available (greyed out).

This is classified as a "potentially unwanted program" so not, technically, a virus!. 

From what I can find out it gets installed along with some other software such as iLivid Player. To remove it, try one of the following: 

• If you've recently installed something then you can try uninstalling it and it might take searchqu with it.
• Also, run Advanced System Care and run the uninstall tool from the Toolbox.
• You might also like to try this: Comodo Internet Security. It is a full Internet Security suite that includes free remote PC support! The anti-virus comes with a 500€ guarantee. It costs $50 per year but I am an affiliate and I can get you a licence for 30€. Ignore what it says about PC Support being limited to the US (this is not true anymore). You can download the 30-day trial and if you like it, ask me for a licence (don't use their purchase options or you'll pay full price).On a similar vein, try a system restore.

My client had already removed what we suspect was the offending program (a DVD burner) and the SearchQU persisted.

A System Restore cured it!
