When Hotmail first came out you could access it via Outlook but some time ago this stopped for the free version of Hotmail at great inconvenience. Well, Microsoft seems to have relented and have released a program (Outlook Connector) to allow you to do what you used to be able to!

With Microsoft Office Outlook Connector, you can use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or 2007 to access and manage your Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail or Microsoft Office Live Mail accounts, including e-mail messages and contacts for free!

How to Backup Online Emails
Once again Steve nags you about backups. This time: your emails.
Losing e-mail can cost you both lost time and opportunity. That's because most of us have valuable information stored in our e-mail programmes -- addresses, contact information, appointments, and some of it can be difficult or impossible to replace.
Outlook stores e-mail in a file with a "pst" extension. For a simple data backup, you can just locate any and all PST files on your hard drive and copy them to another location. To find the files, open the Windows Search utility, type *.pst, and copy the files that the utility finds. Outlook Express stores emails in 'dbx' files (ensure you 'show hidden files' when searching for the files). These can then be imported into a OE.
If you don't use Outlook to send/receive emails then this it can be used to backup your emails. Enable your email provider's POP forwarding capability, which allows you to receive and send your e-mail with Outlook Express, Outlook or another e-mail programme. That way, you can use your standard backup procedure for your e-mail programme of choice, and all of your online mail will be backed up as well.
Backing up email is particularly important if you use AOL or similar providers who delete emails after so many months or if the account isn't accessed for some time. The periods vary but yahoo, for example, will delete your account if you don't use it after 3 months.
If your provider doesn't support POP forwarding then setup another email account and set up auto-forwarding on your main account. All emails you receive will automatically go to the backup account. You will have to Blind' copy yourself on any sent emails that you want to backup or forward them to your self. Remember to login to your backup account regularly in case it gets deleted!
Another option is to use another email account such as gmail which allows you to access a number of email accounts in one place. Your emails will be stored in their respective accounts and will appear to come from whichever email address you choose. The original emails will be stored with the original email company (yahoo, msn etc.) thus providing a backup.
Backing up your e-mail is one thing. Restoring it can be quite another. Regardless of the backup solution you choose, run a test to determine whether you can restore your e-mail in the event of an emergency.
Nevertheless, if you rely upon your e-mail in your day-to-day business operations, the trouble you take to ensure that your backup and restoration procedures are bulletproof will be well rewarded once a data meltdown occurs.

I don't know if you know what breadcrumbs are when they appear on your computer. I know I didn't. Anyway, they have more to do with finding your way then they have to baking. If you have more than 2 or 3 levels of folders to keep your files organised then you will have been frustrated by the normal explorer way of finding your way around.
