XP Antivirus 2008 Warning

XP Antivirus 2008 is yet another counterfeit anti-spyware similar to AV 2009. It comes with many pseudonyms all variations on XP, Vista, 2008, 2009 etc.

It drives users crazy by continuous alerts, slowing the computer, sysstem crashes and even hard disk faults.

The reason this becomes a problem is because of the familiarity of the name they believe it has something to do with their operation system (XP or Vista) and therefore trust it.

The first steps of removal are:

1. Don't click anything.
2. Stop any processes with AV2009 or something similar in the title.
3. Run "msconfig" to see if there are any AV... files due to startup next time the computer starts. Keep AVG though!
   
4. Go to the Program Files folder and delete any folder with AV.... Keep AVG though.
5. Reboot
6. If this hasn't work, then reboot into safe mode and try again.
7. If it still doesn't work, call me.
